MINSK, 29 August (BelTA) — Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko commented on the upcoming launch of the First Information TV Channel, which earlier was presented by the National State TV and Radio Company of Belarus (Belteleradiocompany) as he heard out a report on current issues related to the country’s information policy on 29 August, BelTA has learned.
"I give you a lot of credit for your decision to implement this project on your own. However, when I set this task before you, I thought that you would involve foreigners. When you said that you would do it yourself, I thought: “Okay, maybe if we fail to make it perfect on our own, then will fine-tune it”. Like you, I am very worried about people's attitude to all this," the Belarusian leader said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that the creation of Belarus’ information TV channel, following the example of the world's leading TV channels, has been discussed for a long time.
The president commented on the recent presentation of the new media resource. He pointed out that he was a little nervous as the active promotion of this media organization created certain expectations in the public that should be met.
"We have talked about it [the creation of the TV channel] for a long time, but I would like to discuss some new points. What problems are there? Make sure this will be a truly Belarusian channel. Without any lies," the Belarusian leader added.
