Lukashenko comments on Belarus’ approaches to coronavirus situation

Lukashenko comments on Belarus’ approaches to coronavirus situation

MINSK, 8 May (BelTA) - The methods chosen in Belarus to tackle the coronavirus have been conditioned by a fairly well-developed national healthcare, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with the participants of the war commemorative event in All Saints Memorial-Church in Minsk on 8 May, BelTA has learned.

The head of state noted that Belarus has chosen pinpoint tactics to tackle the coronavirus rather than a full-front strategy.

“We have always looked after the healthcare sector. We have not given it away into private hands. It was not easy for us. We are not a rich country, it has cost us dearly. But it will pay back a hundredfold,” he said. “Of course, there are many issues, drawbacks. We see them all. Once this story, this hysteria and viral disease are over, we will make appropriate decisions that will greatly reinforce our healthcare. We know what needs to be done,” the Belarusian leader noted.

Speaking about doctors, especially those who have already recovered from coronavirus and returned to their work to save lives, Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that these are the real heroes.
