MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – Belarus needs to create conditions to attract the world’s leading IT companies to the country, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said in his State of the Nation Address on 21 April, BelTA has learned.
“Our goal is to provide the world’s leading IT companies with comfortable conditions to set up branch offices and R&D centers in Belarus and make competitive high value-added products. Currently the Belarusian Hi-Tech Park and the IT community are absorbing the best world practices and putting together the ideas that can help remove every obstacle in the IT sector. The Belarusian government and the Belarus President Administration should strongly support this work. I expect that finally we will pass a large-scale regulatory act that will establish the best working conditions for the world’s best companies in Belarus,” the Belarusian leader underlined.
According to Alexander Lukashenko, the authorities are busy working out similar measures to encourage business in Belarus.
The head of state recalled his recent visit to a Belarusian IT company. “We have agreed that Belarus will enter into a new stage of development, which is turning Belarus into an IT-country. Everything that is done in the field of high technologies in the world should find its application in Belarus,” Alexander Lukashenko noted. The president clarified that he means artificial intelligence, augmented reality, autonomous vehicles, blockchain technology and digital currency.
