PINSK DISTRICT, 4 October (BelTA) - Belarusians should both remember and take pride in their heroic history, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with residents of the agro-town of Parokhonsk in Pinsk District on 4 October, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said that as a historian by profession he noticed long time ago that human history has cyclical patterns, with similar events and themes repeating over time and develop in spirals. Now the West is again trying to secure its future at someone else's expense, while the biggest treasure trove of resources is Russia.
“We are on their way,” the head of state remarked. “They want it. But how do they get it? First of all, it is necessary to get into the head of a person - us - and reformat the way of thinking. They cannot get into our heads, but it is easier to do with young people. That is why they [in the West] want us to forget our history. But we have a heroic history. We should not just remember it. We should be proud of this history. That is what we are doing.”
According to the president, it starts with a simple thing. First it is necessary to form consumer behavior in people, and then rewrite history. “They want to recode us, reformat us. They want to make us different - Ivans who do not remember their kinship. These are steps toward the main goal: they want to subdue us again, to bring us to our knees. They want to make us do what they need so that they could live at our expense,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
