BELGRADE, 3 December (BelTA) – A distinctive feature of Belarus-Serbia relations is that the two states have never set conditions for each other, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Serbia President Aleksandar Vucic on 3 December, BelTA has learned.
“A distinctive feature of Belarus-Serbia relations is that we have never tried to impose preliminary conditions on each other. We are friends, we have a sense of kinship. This is the biggest and most candid basis for our cooperation,” the head of state said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that Serbia and Belarus are not big countries and they do not abound in resources like global leaders, for example, Russia or the United States of America. Belarus and Serbia have to scratch and claw for what they need, the president emphasized.
“Many small and mid-size countries (I have witnessed it many times during my long time in office) always tend to follow these huge and rich countries, because they have the resources that we do not have. However, we should keep in mind that empires and big states will never cooperate with us unconditionally, they will certainly ask to return the favor even before they do this favor,” the Belarusian leader said.
