Lukashenko: Belarus, Pakistan committed to promoting peace in Eurasia

MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) – Belarus and Pakistan are doing their best to enhance peace in Eurasia, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the beginning of the Belarus-Pakistan Business Forum in Minsk on 11 August, BelTA has learned.

“In this complicated time Belarus and Pakistan are consistently doing their best to enhance peace and stability in Eurasia, turn the region in the zone of sustainable development and prosperity,” the President stressed.

Alexander Lukashenko reminded that the recent talks with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif focused on the tremendous role and huge efforts of Pakistan in the fight against terrorism for the sake of stability in the region where the country is located. “It is very difficult to calculate, but it can be hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars. But the main thing is that Pakistan bears considerable losses, loses the best soldiers and specialists. This is an invaluable colossal contribution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. This pertains to everyone, and we must be grateful to the leadership of Pakistan for these efforts,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The head of state noted that this year has become a landmark year in the Belarusian-Pakistani relations. The countries have created a solid foundation for cooperation in such fields as politics, economy, science, education and culture. “Belarus views Pakistan as a reliable partner in the Asian region,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed. He added that Belarus and Pakistan have all political preconditions for advancing trade, economic and investment cooperation.
