MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) – Belarus may be a young state but Belarusians are an absolutely mature nation. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement during a meeting timed to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
“Together with the Basic Law we, the generation of modern Belarusians, have become part of history. The history of establishment of the national statehood. But at the same time we realize that our Basic Law was not born on barren and empty soil,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
He remarked that he always has a careful attitude to continuity because there is no nation and there is no state without traditions. “It is a matter of continuity of the history of the nation and of the preservation of the cultural code. More specifically it is a matter of our sacral connection to the previous generations and those, who will come after us,” the president stated. “Belarus may be a young state but Belarusians are an absolutely mature nation. It is impossible to dispute this status. And it is impossible to dispute the fact that our Constitution embodies accomplishments of many ages.”
