SOCHI, 14 September (BelTA) – During negotiations with President of Russia Vladimir Putin in Sochi on 14 September Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made a few comments about street protests that happen in Belarus and particularly in the Belarusian capital – Minsk – from time to time, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “I don’t want to sound simple but I watch the events with a smile: there can be a march of women and girls on a Saturday and a general march on a Sunday. The country lives a normal life on weekdays. And even on Saturdays and Sundays. We free part of Minsk to allow people to take a walk if they want to.”
“Not crossing the line is the most important thing. I say it constantly. There is a red line. You know it too and you know more than I do. You had to draw these lines primarily in Chechnya when you became quite a young president. God forbid, certainly, if it happens in Belarus. Nevertheless, there are certain red lines that nobody has the right to cross. No one has crossed these red lines yet,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
