MINSK, 30 March (BelTA) – Belarus is successfully weathering the sanctions and outside pressure, CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev told reporters, BelTA has learned.
“For the CIS Executive Committee that is headquartered in Minsk and that receives all possible assistance and support from the leadership of Belarus, the stability, peace and tranquility in Belarus and its progressive development are very important. We see that Belarus is withstanding the outside pressure and the sanctions imposed against it and the Russian Federation. The economy is functioning, people have jobs,” Sergei Lebedev said.
“We are happy that our Belarusian friends are successfully resisting this ungrounded and, frankly speaking, not really smart sanctions that affect not only the Belarusian economy, but also the economies of European countries. These sanctions have backfired on them,” CIS Secretary General said.
