MOSCOW, 4 May (BelTA) - The CIS countries have a deep respect for Belarus, for its contribution to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev told reporters, BelTA has learned.

“We know what a huge contribution Belarus made to the Great Victory, how many sufferings it went through for the victory to become a reality,” Sergei Lebedev said.

He also noted that the current generation of Belarusians does a lot to preserve the memory about the Great Patriotic War.

“The Victory unites us because only together we can withstand any threat to our countries,” Sergei Lebedev noted.

Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev attended a ceremony of laying a wreath on behalf of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow on 4 May.
