MINSK, 27 January (BelTA) – The ISU European Figure Skating Championships in Minsk will give impetus to the development of figure skating in Belarus, Vice President of the International Skating Union Alexander Lakernik told BelTA.
“This is not my first time in Minsk. I know that Minsk is a beautiful city, a city of friendly people. However, I did not have time to go sightseeing during the championships. I am sure this tournament will give impetus to the development of figure skating in Belarus. I think Belarus need to work on the level of coaching staff, should use the experience of Russian and foreign colleagues ,” Alexander Lakernik said.
He noted that the tournament was held at a good level.
Alexander Lakernik called Russia’s performance satisfactory. "We did well, we won a lot of medals. But we also made mistakes which we need to analyze thoroughly," Alexander Lakernik added.
Minsk played host to the ISU European Figure Skating Championships on 23 - 28 January. Over 100 athletes from European countries took part in the tournament.
