MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – Kuropaty should unite the society instead of splitting it apart, BelTA learned from Director of the History Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) Vyacheslav Danilovich.
The Director of the History Institute said: “Creating a memorial in Kuropaty is a very important initiative, demand for which is strong. It is necessary to make Kuropaty a uniting center. Kuropaty should not split the society apart. This memorial will be the place where any person could come in order to pay a tribute of respect for the people, who fell victims to reprisals.”
In his opinion, every person should be able to contribute to the creation of the memorial. “I think that a contest of schematic designs will be the next step,” noted Vyacheslav Danilovich.
The expert described the Kuropaty cleanup action on 25 March as very important. “The place needs some basic order first of all,” added the scientist.
