MINSK, 7 April (BelTA) – People’s diplomacy is a guarantee of productive cooperation between countries, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Natalia Kochanova said at the meeting timed to the 90th anniversary of the Belarusian society of friendship and cultural ties with foreign countries, BelTA has learned.
“Twin-town ties unite hundreds of Belarus towns with various countries. When people learn about other countries not from mass media but through people’s diplomacy it is a guarantee of successful cooperation between countries. Therefore, it is impossible to overestimate or underestimate this work,” Natalia Kochanova said.
The deputy prime minister noted that it is very important for the states maintaining friendly relations and cooperation with Belarus to know its history and culture.
Culture Minister Boris Svetlov noted that famous Belarusians Yakub Kolas, Yanka Kupala, Tishka Gartny, Mikhas Charot, Maxim Tank, Ivan Shamyakin, Ivan Melezh and others stood at the roots of the Belarusian society of friendship and cultural ties with foreign countries.
“Belarus’ international cultural relations have been increasingly vibrant recently. This happened thanks to the mutual days of culture, successful tours of our artists abroad and foreign artists in Belarus, numerous festivals of professional and amateur art, the growing authority of leading Belarusian museums,” Boris Svetlov is convinced.
