Kochanova in favor of “happy hours” proposal at Belarusian museums

MOLODECHNO, 5 February (BelTA) – Cultural institutions should use more active and creative approaches in their work, Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Natalia Kochanova said at the off-site meeting of the board of the Culture Ministry, BelTA has learned.

The Vice Premier drew attention to the work of museums. She mentioned free-for-all days at the National Art Museum as an example. There is a proposal to introduce ‘happy hours’ at museums when the prices for tickets will be significantly reduced. In her opinion, museums should reduce ticket prices to raise the inflow of visitors.

According to the Vice Premier, there should be efficient and popular cultural institutions in Belarus. In particular, Natalia Kochanova noted that the productions of Minsk theaters are always a success in regions; however, theater companies do not have enough tours.

Speaking about the training of workers of cultural institutions, Natalia Kochanova stressed that this issue requires serious attention. There are good educational conditions and a big creative potential in Belarus, she believes.

We must honor creative people, scholarship holders of the Special Fund for the Support of Talented Youth, and renowned artists; they should be in demand in the country, Natalia Kochanova said.
