Kochanova: Education is at the heart of Belarus' social welfare policy

MINSK, 23 August (BelTA) – Education is at the heart of Belarus' social welfare policy, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, the president's authorized representative in Minsk, Natalya Kochanova said during the Minsk city educational forum for teaching staff on 23 August, BelTA has learned.

"When I look at this hall, I see people who are really invested in the future development of the country, improving the quality of education and achieving goals set for the teaching staff by the president, the government, the Education Ministry and the city authorities. We understand that education is at the heart of social welfare policy of our state", Natalya Kochanova said.

She highlighted that future of Belarus depends on teachers. "I thank all the education workers of Minsk for your work. When a child comes to you, you need to teach him to write, to speak well, to know physics and math, and to be a true patriot of their country. This work is not easy but very important, because often upbringing of young people falls on your shoulders,” Natalya Kochanova added. “I want to thank the veterans of the teaching profession for passing all the good traditions of Minsk education from generation to generation. You have achieved good results. Minsk education is a serious work.”

The Minsk city educational forum for teaching staff titled as Quality of education today, successful future tomorrow was held at the Minsk city palace of culture on 23 August. The event analyzed the work of the Minsk education system for the past academic year, identified priority areas for improving the educational process in educational institutions, and set goals for the new 2024-2025 academic year.

The plenary session was attended by heads of government agencies, public organizations, education departments of Minsk’s district administrations, educational institutions, heads and deputies of city district administrations, and representatives of the sectoral labor union. The plenary session was broadcast online for all educational institutions of the city of Minsk. During the forum, an awards ceremony was held to honor the teaching staff, veterans of the profession and young teachers.
