Kochanova: Belarusians care about their country’s future

MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – Belarusians care about the future of their country, Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova told reporters. On 26 January the speaker met with representatives of the banking sector, BelTA has learned.

“Indeed, meetings with labor collectives continue, although the discussion of the Constitution draft has already been officially over. We have received quite a lot of remarks, proposals and questions from the public. And we, of course, are glad that people do care so much about the future of our country. After all, this is the fundamental law by which we and our children will live,” said Natalya Kochanova. “It is very important to feel and understand the mood of people, answer their questions and possibly resolve some issues.”

The speaker noted that the national referendum is an important event in the life of the country. “We must communicate to the public the information that we have, and at the same time get some feedback. Therefore these meetings will continue. The opinion poll showed that people trust the Belarusian People’s Congress. Undoubtedly, a great number of people also trust the head of state,” she noted.

Natalya Kochanova emphasized that public outreach events are not a PR exercise, but part of an established system. “As long as our state has existed, we have tried to communicate all important information first hand, because, unfortunately, fake news, lies and false information have flooded the Internet. And such meetings are very important as they offer a great opportunity to see people and convey the information you have,” the chair of the Council of the Republic added.
