MOSCOW, 29 September (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to take part in Russia’s import substitution programs on a competitive basis, Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov told journalists commenting on the results of the session of the Council of Ministers of the Belarus-Russia Union State held in Moscow on 29 September, BelTA has learned.
“We are ready to take part in Russian import substitution programs on a competitive basis, and invite our partners to participate in Belarusian import substitution programs on the same terms,” the Prime Minister said.
He emphasized that Belarus can manufacture a range of products, first of all, electronic components which Russia needs.
According to Russia Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, in matters of import substitution we should proceed from market terms, the capabilities of the Eurasian Economic Union partners. “We need to collaborate and pursue import substitution in the areas where our partners are strong. For example, our Belarusian partners have good positions across a number of high-tech products. This may be promising,” Dmitry Medvedev said.
