IT viewed as promising area of cooperation for Belarus, Latvia

MINSK, 23 July (BelTA) - IT can become a breakthrough area of cooperation for Belarus and Latvia, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said in an interview to the ONT TV channel on 22 July.

According to the minister, Latvian Prime Minister Maris Kucinskis paid a visit to Belarus in February 2018. A number of agreements were reached during the visit. The plan on their implementation in the midterm has been adopted and coordinated with Latvian partners. The plan covers trade, economic, humanitarian and political areas of cooperation. The parties are also set to develop cooperation in transport, transit, logistics, and IT. This sector, according to the minister, “can become a breakthrough area of bilateral cooperation.”

The plan also envisages the development of contacts between businessmen, and also the setting up of joint companies in Belarus and Latvia.

As BelTA reported earlier, on 19-20 July Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei paid a working visit to Latvia. He held talks with Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkevics and Latvian Prime Minister Maris Kucinskis.
