MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) – I highly appreciate Belarus' participation in the International Leaders Forum, Israeli President Reuven Rivlin said as he met with Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.
On 22 January, Vladimir Andreichenko took part in a dinner reception hosted by Israel President Reuven Rivlin to honor the presidents and prime ministers of the countries, and also heads of foreign organizations who came to Israel to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust. “Vladimir Andreichenko and Reuven Rivlin had a brief conversation during the reception. The speaker conveyed greetings from Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko. In turn, Reuven Rivlin asked Vladimir Andreichenko to convey the best wishes and gratitude to the Belarusian leader for the country's participation in the events dedicated to thte International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. He said he highly appreciates this,” the press service said.
The speaker of the House of Representatives also held talks with a number of heads of parliaments of other states during the event.
As BelTA reported earlier, Vladimir Andreichenko is on a visit to Jerusalem at the instruction of the head of state. The chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus is expected to take part in the International Leaders Forum dedicated to the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. The forum has gathered representatives of 46 countries: presidents, prime ministers, representatives of royal houses, parliamentary leaders of Europe, North America, and Australia. The forum is meant to perpetuate memory of the Holocaust and other tragic events of World War Two.
