MINSK, 7 September (BelTA) – Iran is interested in developing comprehensive cooperation with Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Belarus Mostafa Oveisi told BelTA.
Iran’s parliamentary delegation arrived in Belarus on an official visit on 6 September. The delegation is led by Speaker of the Parliament of Iran Ali Larijani.
The diplomat emphasized the importance of Ali Larijani’s visit. While in Minsk, the high Iranian guest plans to discuss a wide range of issues related to the state and prospects of the Belarusian-Iranian cooperation. The ambassador recalled Ali Larijani’s visit to Belarus four years ago and added that the parties are also expected to take stock of the progress made in the implementation of the agreements.
According to Mostafa Oveisi, Iran finds it important to further develop economic, scientific, education and cultural ties. This year Belarus and Iran signed a document on the delivery of Belarusian meat worth about $100 million to the Iranian market. Plans are in place to expand contacts in other sectors of economy as well.
