MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – Ways of deepening the integration between Belarus and Russia will head the agenda of the 6th Forum of Regions, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich said at a meeting of the organizing committee for the forum, BelTA has learned.
The forum is important because the issues of integration will be discussed at the highest level prior and during the forum, Mikhail Myasnikovich noted. In this regard, he asked Belarusian participants to prepare the proposals within their terms of reference.
The entire work of the Belarusian delegation will be built in the same vein at the forum. “We need to raise the issues which are on the agenda and have not been resolved due to various reasons and to propose solutions,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said. As an example he cited the abolition of roaming charges in the Union State.
Great expectations are associated with the Russian-Belarusian youth forum, which, according to the speaker, should be held in the informal setting. He called the youth policy as one of the priority areas. “Youth is ambitious and raises topical issues. Those who hold official positions should meet the expectations of the youth,” he said. “Allied relations between Russia and Belarus are the asset which we need to pass on to the younger generations,” Mikhail Myasnikovich added.
The 6th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will take place in St Petersburg on 16-18 July. The presidents of Belarus and Russia are expected to attend its plenary session. This year it will focus on interregional relations as a basis for the formation of the single cultural and humanitarian space of Belarus and Russia. Cooperation agreements between regions of the two countries, commercial contracts, other documents on cooperation will be signed during the forum.
