MINSK, 8 November (BelTA) – The advisory assistance and expert support of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is essential for Belarus, Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said as he met with an IMF mission, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian government.
According to the prime minister, the government’s top priority now is to maintain the economic growth, make it more sustainable and dynamic, and also reduce the economic vulnerability to external shocks. Andrei Kobyakov underlined that the IMF’s advisory assistance and expert support are important for Belarus in terms of pursuing a successful economic policy.
He offered to exchange views on how to maintain the momentum in cooperation in present-day conditions and continue to bridge the positions in such fields where some contradictions still remain in place. In his words, Belarus is open to as close cooperation as possible.
The IMF mission is working in Belarus from 26 October to 10 November as part of the annual Article IV Consultation aimed at discussing the country’s economic policy.
