VITEBSK, 19 November (BelTA) – Over 30 years the International Festival of Modern Choreography (IFMC) in Vitebsk has become Belarus’ cultural trademark, Belarus’ Culture Minister Yuri Bondar said at the closing ceremony of the festival, BelTA has learned.
“Over its 30 years of existence the festival has turned into a cultural trademark of not only Vitebsk but also the whole country. Today, the festival is well-known outside Belarus, is recognized by the world’s choreography community, sets trends in modern choreography,” Yuri Bondar stressed.
The minister wished all the participants new victories, achievements and optimism, and expressed his gratitude to the organizers and sponsors of this important cultural event in Belarus.
The International Festival of Modern Choreography in Vitebsk was held on 15-19 November. Performing at the forum’s 30th edition were artists from Austria, Belarus, Germany, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Latvia, Romania, Slovenia, Ukraine, Croatia, the Czech Republic and other countries.
The festival is cofounded by the Culture Ministry, the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee, Vitebsk City Hall, the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus. The Vitebsk Cultural Center is the organizer of the festival.
