MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) – Deputy Head of the Entrepreneurship, Pricing and State Property Department of the Healthcare Ministry of Belarus Yekaterina Shpak told BelTA’s The Nation Speaks project why foreigners come to Belarus for medical treatment.
According to Yekaterina Shpak, the most popular healthcare facilities among foreign patients are the Minsk Center for Surgery, Transplantology and Hematology, the National Research Center Cardiology, the National Research Center for Children’s Oncology, Hematology and Immunology, the National Research Center for Radiation Medicine and Human Ecology in Gomel, and the National Research Center for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
Yekaterina Shpak noted that foreigners come to Belarus for treatment because of the good price/quality ratio of medical services. “Our large healthcare facilities like national research centers, regional hospitals, can easily compete with European clinics while the prices for their medical services are lower. In addition to that, our healthcare professionals are friendly, they provide follow-up guidance to patients after they leave, they are always ready to consult them remotely and interact with clinics in their home country,” she explained.
According to Yekaterina Shpak, some foreign nationals choose Belarusian clinics because of the good feedback from people who have already received medical treatment in Belarus. “If, for example, people did not get help in a Russian medical facility, they go to Belarus following recommendations of people who have already received the services of our healthcare facilities. By and large, good feedback, advertising, participation in international events, seminars are the most common ways to promote medical tourism in Belarus. We eagerly team up with the Sports and Tourism Ministry to arrange joint exhibitions to represent our country,” said the healthcare official.
