Head of Children of Asia committee emphasizes Belarus’ major role for competitions

MINSK, 30 September (BelTA) – President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko met with Vladimir Maksimov, President of the Children of Asia International Committee on 30 September, BelTA learned from the NOC press service.

Young Belarusian athletes started competing in this format last year. At the 2nd Children of Asia Winter International Sports Games 2023 in Kuzbass Belarus won 11 (1-5-5) medals. At the 8th Summer Games in Yakutsk in 2024 the Belarusian team secured 78 (27, 21 and 30) medals.

“Participation in such competitions is a great event for Belarusian young athletes. Just recently we honored our winners and medalists of the Games. It is very important for the young athletes to be able to perform with the national flag and anthem. We will gladly accept invitations to the upcoming competitions and will definitely send out best athletes,” Viktor Lukashenko said.

Vladimir Maksimov emphasized the important role the Belarusian athletes played in these international competitions. The head of the Children of Asia Games organizing committee stressed that the athletes from Belarus always keep in the leading roles and place high in the medal standings.

“The recent competitions in Yakutsk will be long remembered by the athletes, for whom the Games will serve as an incentive to train hard and achieve even more significant results. I am very glad that we have established friendly relations. Now we are working on a new project, URBAN Games, where we will also be glad to welcome our friends from Belarus. Of course, we invite your teams to participate in the next winter and summer editions of the Children of Asia Games,” Vladimir Maksimov said.

During his working visit, Vladimir Maksimov toured the sports facilities of Minsk and attended the KHL match featuring HC Dinamo Minsk.
