MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – Parliamentary elections are an important day for the Belarusian people, Vice-President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and OSCE Special Coordinator for the parliamentary elections in Belarus Kent Harstedt said on 11 September, BelTA has learned.
The OSCE Special Coordinator paid a visit to polling station No.463 of Kalvariysky constituency No.104 where he got familiar with the opportunities provided for people with disabilities and hailed the organization of the process. “It is an important day for the Belarusian people. Today the country is holding its parliamentary elections with a big number of candidates. We are looking forward to learn the names of those elected to the lower house of the Belarusian parliament,” he noted.
Kent Harstedt stressed that these are the fourth elections he is attending in Belarus as an observer. According to the special coordinator, 375 observers from the OSCE are monitoring the 2016 parliamentary campaign in the country.
