MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) - The visit of OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier will give a new impetus to the development of a dialogue with Belarus, Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives, the head of the permanent delegation of the Belarus National Assembly to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Viktor Guminsky said as he met with the OSCE Secretary General, BelTA has learned.
"I am sure that your visit to our country will give a new impetus to the further development of the dialogue, further development of the relationship between our country (in particular, the Parliament) and the OSCE in addressing the difficult challenges which the organization is facing today," Viktor Guminsky said. According to him, the Belarusian side attaches great importance to this visit.
For his part, the OSCE Secretary General noted the importance of this meeting in Parliament. Today the OSCE delegation met with head of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei to discuss several important issues. One of them was the settlement of the situation in Ukraine, in connection with which Mr Lamberto Zannier drew attention to the important role of Belarus in this regard.
When introducing the accompanying delegation, the OSCE Secretary General singled out Rasa Ostrauskaite, Deputy Director of the OSCE Conflict Prevention Center who will participate in the work of the next meeting of the tripartite contact group in Ukraine in Minsk.
Prior to the talks, Viktor Guminsky wished Mr Lamberto Zannier happy birthday which he celebrates today, and gave him a commemorative souvenir on behalf of the Belarusian Parliament.
