Governor: Russia’s Primorsky Krai interested in increasing supplies of Belarusian goods

Governor: Russia’s Primorsky Krai interested in increasing supplies of Belarusian goods

MINSK, 16 July (BelTA) – The lineup of Belarusian goods supplied to Primorsky Krai of Russia will be expanded, Governor Oleg Kozhemyako told the media following the meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 16 July, BelTA has learned.

Oleg Kozhemyako thanked Belarus for their help and support throughout the time he has governed the regions, in particular humanitarian supplies after the floods in Amur Oblast. “We have long-standing, good relations of mutual trust, mutual understanding. The foundation we have laid in previous years will now be used to develop relations between Primorsky Krai and Belarus,” he said.

According to him, Belarus does supply its goods in Primorsky Krai but the lineup is narrow. “We will expand the lineup of Belarusian products. Trading houses will be set up in major cities,” he informed.

Many joint projects have been outlined during the current visit of the governor to Belarus. For example, the Russian delegation visited Mogilev Oblast, held talks with a number of enterprises, including Mogilevliftmash. The Russian guests are also set to visit Zhdanovichi farm company, MAZ, MTZ, Belkommunmash, and Amkodor engineering companies. The delegation includes representatives of mining companies who have an interest in BelAZ rock haulers. As the governor said, Belarusian equipment is in demand in Russia. It is appreciated for quality, maintenance service, preferential delivery mechanisms.

The working group on the development of cooperation with Primorsky Krai will be led, on behalf of Belarus, by Mogilev Oblast Governor Leonid Zayats. “We have known each other for more than 10 years. We have developed the mechanisms of joint project implementation. We have the experience which we will apply in Primorsky Krai. Social, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation will be growing every year. Those areas which are the backbone of our relations will become more developed in the light of our experience, understanding and trust. I am sure that the friendship will be growing stronger every year,” Oleg Kozhemyako said.

According to the Russian governor, it will be easier for Belarus to bolster ties with Primorsky Krai than Sakhalin Oblast. “Primorsky Krai is the continent, more densely populated region, bordering on four countries: China, North and South Korea, Japan. It is home to ice-free seaports, large shipbuilding industry,” Oleg Kozhemyako explained. “Professionals in construction, including road construction, and in agriculture will be particularly sought in Primorsky Krai,” he added.

In January-May this year the trade between Belarus and Primorsky Krai amounted to $5.7 million, down 1.7% year-on-year. Belarus’ export amounted to $4.6 million, import totaled $1.1 million. Belarus major exports to Primorsky Krai are trucks, rods and aluminum profiles, tires, cheese, cottage cheese and butter. Since the beginning of the year, the export of construction parts made of plastic has seen a drastic increase (of 44.5%) and that of cosmetics (6.6 times).

Belarusian enterprises has a dealer network in Primorsky Krai to promote sale of engineering products through Russian companies registered in Moscow, Vladivostok and Barnaul.
