MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) – The China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone offers broad opportunities for the development of Latvian business, BelTA learned from Aleksandr Yaroshenko, head of the administration of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone, on 16 January.
The official said: “First of all, the Latvian private sector has already shown its interest. An electronics company with a share of Latvian capital operates in the park. It started working last year. I hope the project will be a success. But we would like this cooperation to continue developing in the future because we have all opportunities for contact, primarily in the sphere of economy. The park is interesting for Latvia primarily thanks to its transit potential. We are actually a nodal platform of the Silk Road.”
Cooperation in pharmaceutics looks promising. “The head of the large Latvian company Grindeks came to participate in a regional cooperation and development forum held as part of the Belt and Road initiative last year. He met with the Belarusian healthcare minister. We hope the project for Latvian and Belarusian companies to start manufacturing medications together will be successfully implemented in the future. We invite representatives of the Latvian private sector to attend a forum we will host this year to discuss healthcare. We would like as many projects like that as possible to develop here,” the head of the industrial park’s administration noted.
Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Rumas and Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins visited the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone on 16 January. They were made familiar with the development of the industrial park and with the operation of resident companies.
