MINSK, 3 October (BelTA) – Belarus can be a bridge between the East and the West, Wolfgang Sender, Country Director for Belarus at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (Germany), said during the visit of a German youth delegation to the Belarusian news agency BelTA on 3 October.
“Germany is interested in Belarus which plays an important role in ensuring regional security. I think that from the political point of view, Belarus can be a bridge between the East and the West. To achieve this, it is necessary to maintain an active dialogue in both directions,” Wolfgang Sender said.
Younes Ouaqasse, the head of the delegation of the Junge Union Deutschlands (Young Union of Germany), noted that the main aim of the visit is to get acquainted with Belarus. “We have heard a lot about your country, but seen little. Now I can say that we have learned a great deal about Belarus, got positive impressions. This will help us in our future work in Germany,” he emphasized.
Belarus is hosting a delegation of the Junge Union Deutschlands for the first time. The visit will last through 4 October. On 3 October, the delegation paid a visit to the Belarusian news agency BelTA and learned about the agency’s structure and activities.
The Junge Union Deutschlands is the joint youth organization of the two conservative German political parties, CDU and CSU. Membership is limited to individuals between 14 and 35 years of age.
