MINSK, 6 October (BelTA) – Parliamentarians from European Union member states are genuinely interested in Belarus. Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko made the statement during the closing ceremony of the tenth session of the fifth-convocation parliament on 6 October, BelTA has learned.
The MP noted: “While talking to our colleagues from Bulgaria, Germany, Spain, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, France, and Czechia, we see genuine, sincere interest in our country and readiness to work together.”
Vladimir Andreichenko also pointed out the vigorous advancement of the dialogue with the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference. Apart from that, Belarusian-Polish cooperation is about to reach a brand new level.
Summing up results achieved by the old parliament, the Chairman of the House of Representatives said he believes that Belarusian MPs had been successful in their legislative efforts and international activities because they constantly stayed in touch with their voters and clearly understood the state of affairs in the regions of the country. Over the course of four years Belarusian MPs received over 50,000 citizens and dealt with over 53,000 petitions and complaints from individuals. The most worrying problems were then discussed with the Belarusian government and prompted the revision of effective laws sometimes.
Vladimir Andreichenko also reminded that together with municipal government agencies the fifth-convocation parliament dealt with matters concerning territory development, population employment, and the creation of new jobs. For instance, over 30 business projects were prepared in three districts in Mogilev Oblast alone thanks to parliamentary initiatives.
