MINSK, 6 November (BelTA) – New cooperation opportunities may open up for Belarusian and French companies in the near future, Vice-President of France-Belarus Friendship Group of the National Assembly of France Thierry Mariani said as he met with Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Anatoly Rusetsky on 6 November, BelTA has learned.
“I think that new opportunities will open up for French and Belarusian companies over the next year since there are no obstacles to mutually beneficial cooperation anymore,” Thierry Mariani noted.
He pointed out that this is by far not his first visit to Belarus. “If I am not mistaken, this is the 20th time I have come to this country,” Thierry Mariani said. For example, he already visited Belarus to monitor elections.
Thierry Mariani also noted that, due to some reasons, the relations between Belarus and France have not reached their full potential yet. “Your country has been portrayed in a negative light in Europe in recent years,” the French MP said. As the same time, he said that the attitude towards Belarus is gradually changing. Thierry Mariani said he hopes for positive changes. Moreover, he believes the geographical position of the country will contribute to this as the European Union views Belarus as a point of entry to the market of the Eurasian Economic Union.
