BREST, 27 June (BelTA) – Development of interregional contacts will give a boost to Belarus-France relations, Chairman of the France-Belarus Friendship Group Christophe Lejeune said in Brest on 27 June, BelTA has learned.
According to the MP, the parties have good cooperation prospects in various areas, including high technology, tourism, agriculture and woodworking. “We need to expand cooperation between the regions. Minsk will host an economic forum in autumn. At this forum companies from the Free Economic Zone Brest and businessmen from Brest Oblast will be able to forge new contacts with French businessmen. We will encourage as many people as possible to take part in the event. Interregional contacts will contribute to the development of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries,” Christophe Lejeune said.
The French delegation held a meeting at the Brest Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) to flesh out cooperation plans. Director General of the Brest Office of the BCCI Valery Labun expressed interest in forging contacts with the French Chambers of Commerce and Industry. “This could be Brest, Lyon, and Strasbourg. The contacts will help open up a new page in our friendly relations and promote trade and economic cooperation between the regions,” he said.
“As soon as I come back, I will contact the chambers of commerce and industry with which you could potentially cooperate. I will tell them that you are looking forward to establishing partner relations,” Christophe Lejeune said.
As BelTA reported earlier, the delegation of the National Assembly of France will be on an official visit to Belarus till 28 June.
