MINSK, 30 November (BelTA) – France is ready to step up cooperation with Belarus in information technologies and infrastructure development, BelTA learned from Ambassador of France to Belarus Didier Canesse during the Belarusian-French interregional business forum in Minsk on 30 November.
The Ambassador believes that Belarus and France should intensify cooperation not only in politics but in economy, too. The Belarusian-French interregional business forum is supposed to help achieve the goal. “We should be willing to work without fear of exploiting the opportunities that open up before us. For instance, we could talk about the development of infrastructure, information technologies, and agriculture,” noted Didier Canesse.
France and Belarus are of the opinion that the bilateral trade could be considerably higher. “The current trade volume fails to live up to the available potential. For its part the Embassy of France will do its best to advance economic cooperation with Belarus. We would like to regain the areas that, unfortunately, we’ve lost in economic cooperation,” added the Ambassador.
This year Belarus’ Doing Business rating has improved by 13 points. The country is now ranked 37th. Didier Canesse advised French businessmen to bear the fact in mind. “It is a very important moment. It recognizes the work that is already being done in Belarus. I am confident that we will be able to improve the business climate in Belarus,” added the Ambassador.
The Belarusian-French interregional business forum is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 30 November — 1 December. The event has been organized by the Embassy of Belarus in France and the Minsk city administration.
