MINSK, 6 November (BelTA) – Belarus is an important partner for the European Union, which contributes to stability in the region. The statement was made by Harlem Desir, Secretary of State on European Affairs of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting with Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alena Kupchyna in Paris, the press service of the Belarusian ministry told BelTA.
The meeting focused on interaction between Belarus and the European Union in the context of consequent normalization of relations. The French diplomat mentioned recent positive changes in the climate of relations between Belarus and the European Union. He stressed that Belarus is an important partner for the European Union, which makes its contribution to the stability in the region.
The sides noted with satisfaction the invigoration of Belarusian-French relations in economic and political affairs and the expansion of contacts between Belarusian and French enterprises.
Preparations for the second session of the Belarusian-French commission on economic cooperation and the second Belarusian-French business forum were discussed.
The priority nature of Belarus-France trade and economic cooperation was emphasized. Harlem Desir also noted the importance of Belarus’ national contribution to the preparation of the multilateral agreement on climate.
The Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs also met with Florence Mangin, Director of the Continental Europe Department of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The sides talked over a wide range of items on the bilateral agenda considering the invigoration of Belarusian-French relations in political, economic, and cultural spheres.
