MOSCOW, 19 January (BelTA) – The Fourth Belarus-Russia Forum of Regions will see more participants than any previous edition, Marianna Shchetkina, Deputy Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, said at the first meeting of the organizing committee of the forum in Moscow on 19 January, BelTA has learned.
“Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin repeatedly said that of special importance for the cooperation between the two countries are issues of common concern related to the life of the people, integration of regions, and development of the relations at the level of enterprises, executive authorities and local self-government bodies. Therefore, the Belarus-Russia Forum of Regions is a special platform that provides an opportunity to achieve a high level of integration,” Marianna Shchetkina noted.
She added that the forum will sum up the results of the joint work of Belarus and Russia in the areas that will be in focus at the forum, including high technology, innovations, and information society. Marianna Shchetkina also stressed the need to involve young people in the organization of the forum.
The Deputy Chairperson of the Council of the Republic pointed out that every effort will be made to improve the effectiveness of the forum, which means to secure an increase in the number of contracts and agreements concluded during the forum and draft a final document. Marianna Shchetkina also stressed that both Belarus and Russia show a special interest in the preparations for the forum.
The organizing committee reviewed a draft of the program of the forum, the procedure for the organization of the plenary meeting, break-out sessions and other events. The fourth edition of the Belarus-Russia Forum of Regions will be held in Moscow on 29 and 30 June.
