MINSK, 22 February (BelTA) – The priority focus of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to protect the national sovereignty, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Aleinik said at the collegium of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, BelTA has learned.
“The accelerated military buildup of the eastern flank of NATO represents a serious threat to Belarus’ national security. Additional means and forces are being transferred to Poland, Lithuania and Latvia, not to mention the construction of walls along the Belarusian border. Under these conditions, we have fulfilled the tasks set by the head of state and the government - to focus on protecting the national sovereignty of the country, to rearrange foreign economic activity accordingly, to counteract information warfare, political and economic pressure, to minimize the damage from the sanctions against the Republic of Belarus,” the minister said.
At the same time, Sergei Aleinik noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs views the new realities not only as a struggle for survival, but also a window of opportunity, a time for rethinking priorities, and an impetus to discover new points of growth and niches for interaction in the international arena.
