MINSK, 7 November (BelTA) – French actress and director Fanny Ardant was welcomed by a round of applause as she attended the opening ceremony of the 22nd Minsk International Film Festival Listapad on 6 November, BelTA has learned.
The actress was given a standing ovation. “I have come to Minsk for the first time, but I read about your country and know about your history. I knew that Minsk is a historic city with a tragic history, but it is full of life. I am happy to attend the opening of the festival and spend a couple of days in this city,” Fanny Ardant said.
The actress presented her second work as a director, the film Obsessive Rhythms, in Minsk.
The 22nd edition of the Minsk International Film Festival Listapad marks the 120th anniversary of the world cinema celebrated in 2015. The festival is held under the slogan Eye of Pleasure from 6 through 13 November.
The festival was founded by the Belarusian Culture Ministry and the Minsk City Hall with the participation of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company, the national film studio Belarusfilm, and the Belarusian Union of Cinematographers. It is held under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Belarus
The main organizer of the festival is the center of visual and performing arts "ART Corporation”. The festival is accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) as a competition festival among the films from the Baltic states, Central Asia, Central and Eastern Europe.
