“Given the openness of the Belarusian economy, the effective economic activity relying on the balance in foreign trade and participation in the international division of labor plays an important role in the sustainable development of our country,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

According to the President, gradual diversification of export and equal distribution of trade in three major destinations, namely the Eurasian Economic Union, the European Union, and partners in Asia, Africa, North and South America, are among the main priorities of the Belarusian economic policy. By 2020, Belarus is planning to reach proportional balance of trade in every destination.

Addressing foreign diplomats, the head of state remarked that openness and hospitality, religious tolerance and peacefulness are deeply rooted in the Belarusian mentality. “These qualities thanks to which Belarus has become the so-called pillar of stability and security in the region were shaped under the influence of the difficult history which left inerasable scars on the Belarusian soil,” Alexander Lukashenko said. “When fulfilling your diplomatic mission, you will be able to learn more about and appreciate the heroic and tragic past which is at the heart of the modern peaceful and multi-vector foreign policy of our state.”

Alexander Lukashenko expressed hope that the activities of diplomats in Belarus will yield tangible results and help find new niches and resources for the enhancement of trade and economic contacts and implementation of high-profile international projects. “I want to assure you that our government and citizens will provide all-round attention and assistance. The most favorable conditions will be created for your work,” the head of state assured.

The Belarusian President received the credentials of ambassadors of Australia, Ghana, Guinea, Zimbabwe, South Korea, Nicaragua, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Slovakia, Sudan, the Philippines, Ethiopia, and Japan.
