MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) – Municipal government agencies should facilitate proper organization of the forthcoming election processes in Belarus. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statement as he dealt with a number of personnel appointments on 16 May, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “Don’t forget – we have two political years [the parliamentary and presidential elections are scheduled for 2019-2020]. We have no party to take care of political campaigns the way it was done in the past [the USSR period]. You will have to do it. Everything should be properly organized. Today we have everything in order to properly start these pre-election campaigns and look well before the people. Criticism is unavoidable. People have always criticized the authorities and always will but it is not critical.”
“Naturally, I’ve always said, we will have to take an exam. This is why take measures to make everything decent and beautiful so that our people and neighbors would not complain about us,” the head of state added.
