MINSK, 20 February (BelTA) – Belarus has considerably improved its tourism infrastructure, BelTA learned from an expert on tourism planning and research, Professor of University of Haifa (Israel) Yoel Mansfeld on 20 February.

Yoel Mansfeld said: “I was in Belarus ten years ago last time and I can see a lot of changes now. First and foremost, the tourism infrastructure, means of accommodation, particularly farm tourism, have been unbelievably improved. You can see the changes as soon as you arrive starting with the airport and later along the road. I’d like to draw attention to local cuisine. Your food is remarkable and it differs from what is available in Europe.”

In his words, Belarus boasts rich historical legacy. “The history of the Jews, who’ve lived in this land, is another strongly interesting component. I think the Israelis will also be interested in sport tourism. The cultural aspect of any country, including Belarus, has a huge potential with regard to tourism development,” the professor added.

Yoel Mansfeld, Editor-in-Chief of National Geographic Israel Daphne Raz, and a photographer of National Geographic Israel Eddie Gerald are on a mass media trip in Belarus on 14-21 February. Their visit to Belarus is expected to produce an article in the National Geographic Israel magazine.
