Equatorial Guinea ready to promote genuine manufacturing cooperation with Belarus
MINSK, 7 September (BelTA) – Equatorial Guinea is ready to promote genuine manufacturing cooperation with Belarus. Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo made the statement after negotiations with Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko in the format of smaller delegations and larger ones, BelTA has learned.
The president expressed gratefulness to the Belarusian side for the friendly approach and the readiness to work together.
Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo said: “We share the readiness to do effective joint work, readiness for genuine manufacturing cooperation, which will allow us to realize the potential of our countries. It is obvious that this cooperation can become kind of a platform not only for aiding Equatorial Guinea but also for aiding other African countries, which suffer from extreme poverty.”
The Equatorial Guinea president is convinced that the independence African countries achieved many years ago is still nominal because many of the countries are still under powerful economic pressure. “We suffer from dependence on the countries, which colonized us back in the day, Western countries,” he said. The president added that he intends to achieve genuine economic independence and install a new economic order. In his words, manufacturing cooperation and interaction with Belarus are very helpful in this regard. “We’ve come here and would like to get support for the work Equatorial Guinea already does on its own in order to secure transformation [on the African continent],” he explained.
Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo said he hopes that all the bilateral documents signed in Minsk during the official visit will move from the theoretical dimension to the practical one. “Equatorial Guinea is ready to realize everything that has been signed within the framework of this meeting [in Minsk],” he said.
The president stressed that cooperation with Belarus will be promoted on a mutually beneficial basis and other countries of the region will also benefit from it: “A free trade agreement has been recently signed in Africa. The countries, which would like to use the fruits of Belarus-Equatorial Guinea manufacturing cooperation will be absolutely free to buy them.”
The proposals mentioned by Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo also include joint participation in trade alliances, communities with the possibility of entering the vast markets of neighboring countries on the African continent.
