MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – Equal rights of citizens in humanitarian matters and the youth policy should become the key themes of the 3rd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich said at the meeting of the organizing committee of the Forum on 25 May, BelTA has learned.
“In my opinion, the Forum of Regions should focus on two key issues. First of all, it is the equal rights of citizens in our Union State. The previous forums were dedicated to agriculture and industry. We discussed equal conditions for Belarusian and Russian economic entities. Today we talk about humanitarian cooperation. It would be good to bring our positions closer. The second area I suggest for discussions is the youth policy,” said Mikhail Myasnikovich.
According to the Chairman of the Council of the Republic, there are proposals to hold the fourth Forum of Regions in Saint Petersburg and dedicate it to the youth policy. This initiative is under consideration. Mikhail Myasnikovich stressed that alongside with economic aspects which under permanent control, Belarus and Russia need to develop humanitarian and spiritual cooperation. “Perhaps, we will not be able to address all the issues, be it healthcare or pension security, working conditions and education, but it is possible to make some plans for the future,” he said.
The 3rd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will take place in Minsk on 7-8 June. The goal of the event is to expand the Belarusian-Russian regional cooperation and assist the establishment of direct contacts between the regions, companies and organizations of the two states in the social, economic, scientific, educational, cultural, humanitarian and other areas.
