Eismont: Belarusians stand in solidarity with Russians, share their grief

MINSK, 26 December (BelTA) – Belarusians are mourning the victims of the air crash together with the Russians, spokeswoman for the Belarusian President Natalia Eismont told reporters on 25 December.

“Belarusians sympathize with all those in grief. More so, when a terrible tragedy strikes our brothers, we mourn together with them. In this regard, the President of our country took a decision to limit entertainment events on 26 December and to fly our flags at half-mast in a sign of mourning,” Natalia Eismont said.

She noted that lately Russia has been dealing with too many tragedies, too many deaths. “Belarusians share their grief,” Natalia Eismont underlined.

“We grieve together with the families of the artists of the Alexandrov Ensemble. The Year of Culture is coming to a close in Belarus and we perceive this loss as our own. This ensemble is the heritage of not only Russia. It is the jewel of the world art,” she said. “And, of course, we sympathize with the families of the journalists. Unfortunately today this profession is becoming probably one of the most dangerous. People were fulfilling their professional duty. Their death is a great shock both for the Belarusian journalistic community and for our country as a whole,” Natalia Eismont said.
