MINSK, 25 February (BelTA) – The Raubichi sports complex can rival the world’s best sports venues, three-time Olympic champion Darya Domracheva said in an interview with the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
Belarus has every chance to host an IBU World Cup or the World Championships, Darya Domracheva believes. One of the main advantages of the complex is that it is located in the center of Europe which is convenient for biathletes from all the countries partaking in these competitions. Another advantage is that the complex is located close to a big city of two millions which guarantees that the stands will be crowded.
Darya Domracheva also described her schedule for a competition day. “The time I get up depends on when the competition begins. If it starts late, I prefer to stay in bed as much as possible so that I do not think about how to spend the time left. Of course, it is important to have some light training. I can do some cycling or a short jogging session. After that I get down to monotonous preparations for the race. And if the event starts very early, my time is planned by minutes,” the Belarusian biathlete explained.
As for her diet, Darya Domracheva noted that it is important not to eat much heavy food on the day of the race. The body should feel comfortable, and the food should be easy to digest. “For my breakfast I have cereals, maybe a sandwich. If the race is in the evening, it is good to have some porridge or pasta in the middle of the day,” she added.
As BelTA reported earlier, three-time champion of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics Darya Domracheva won Belarus' Athlete of the Year and the Result of the Year awards of the open public competition Triumph. Sports Heroes 2014. Besides, the Belarusian national biathlon team comprising Lyudmila Kalinchik, Nadezhda Skardino, Nadezhda Pisareva, and Darya Domracheva won the nomination Team of the Year.
