MINSK, 1 December (BelTA) – After the renovation is over, the Dinamo Stadium in Minsk will turn into a multifunctional facility, Belarus Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Kalinin said when visiting the stadium, BelTA learned from the press service of the Sport and Tourism Ministry.
“After the renovation the Dinamo Stadium will become a multi-purpose facility. We need to take advantage of the experience of other countries that use similar facilities in a smart way for sports, business, commercial and entertainment purposes,” Anatoly Kalinin said. He cited the Ghelamco Arena in Ghent which a Belarusian government delegation visited in late October during an official visit to Belgium.
The Vice Premier noted that the stadium in Minsk will incorporate a football pitch and the necessary premises as required by the UEFA and also business centers, sports and food stores, gyms, a restaurant, and plenty of cafes. Nearby there will be a large parking lot for cars, and a parking space for bicycles.
The meeting was attended by Sport and Tourism Minister Alexander Shamko, Architecture and Construction Minister Anatoly Cherny, Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Hall Igor Karpenko, General Director of Stroytrest No.1 construction company Vladimir Bublik.
The Vice Premier was briefed on the status of the renovation project. The project is on schedule, the funding is adequate. During the reconstruction the historical part of the stadium, including the arcade will be kept intact. The Dinamo Stadium is scheduled to reopen in one year - in December 2017.
In 2019, it will host the opening and closing ceremonies of the Second European Games, competitions in various sports.
