MINSK, 16 September (BelTA) - Further development of comprehensive cooperation with China is important for Belarus, Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas said as he attended the event on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China at the House of Friendship in Minsk on 16 September, BelTA has learned.
“In two weeks, the Chinese people and China's many friends will be celebrating a significant date - the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. It is a big day. China's rich history dates back thousands of years. However, the rebirth of the Chinese state seven decades ago on the new social principles opened a truly significant stage in the history of the country,” Andrei Dapkiunas said.
He stressed that for 70 years the people of China have made impressive progress in economic, social and other areas. The influence and well-deserved authority of this country on the world stage has been growing rapidly and steadily. Thanks to the diligence of the people and the wisdom of the state leadership, China is now once again becoming the economic, technological and cultural center of the world, as it has been many times in its long history.
“The successes of the Chinese leadership’s policy to ensure sustainable economic growth and to build a middle-class society attract and inspire many countries in the world, ”Andrei Dapkiunas continued. “Captivating is the impressive scale of transformations proportional to the role and place of China in the world. So is the courage and perseverance in carrying out reforms,” he added.
According to him, Belarus is interested in the experience of China, carefully studies and adopts it. "China responds to this interest of the international community by accepting more and more responsibility towards its partners, by building a new type of interstate relations on a mutually beneficial, equal basis within the framework of the Belt and Road initiative. In China they say: "Fate willing, they will meet despite great distances. If not they will not meet each other even when sitting opposite each other." Despite the great distance between our countries, cultural and linguistic differences, Belarus and China did not just meet. Our countries met in order to remain good friends forever," the deputy minister said.
This year’s event as well as last year's commemorative event on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up is an important element of bilateral cooperation. The deputy minister thanked the Belarusian society of friendship and cultural ties with foreign countries for their work to strengthen human relations between the Belarusian and Chinese peoples.
On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas conveyed sincere wishes for peace, goodness and well-being to the friendly Chinese people.
