MINSK, 22 April (BelTA) – The development of the nuclear energy industry in Belarus has reached a brand new level, BelTA learned from Belarusian Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik during the ceremony held on 22 April to open the 7th international expo and conference Atomexpo Belarus.
“The latest technologies and equipment showcased at the expo testify to the innovation-driven development of our nuclear energy industry and the fact that the industry has reached a brand new level. Participants of the forum have an opportunity to demonstrate the best samples of their products, sign long-term mutually beneficial contracts, and expand business cooperation,” said Vladimir Potupchik. The official stated that energy industry is one of the key branches of the national economy. The stable operation of the Belarusian power grid makes the manufacturing of competitive products possible. “New energy generators are commissioned in Belarus. Existing power plants are modernized using highly effective technologies that generate energy out of natural gas. Renewable energy is developed. A nuclear power plant of our own is being built,” said the Belarusian Energy Minister.
According to Vladimir Potupchik, during the expo and the conference leading scientists and specialists will be able to discuss topical matters in the area of nuclear energy, safety, personnel training, environmental policy. They will be able to get familiar with the equipment and technologies available from the top Belarusian and foreign manufacturers.
In turn, Alexander Merten, President of the company Rusatom International Network, stressed that the expo and conference Atomexpo Belarus gets better representation every year. “Mass media provide better and better coverage. We hope that interesting discussions will take place at this venue. The most important thing is that interesting business contacts will be established and will evolve into contracts,” he remarked.
Alexander Merten stated that the event was taking place in the run-up to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. “This year we also celebrate the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the Russian nuclear energy industry. I would like to congratulate everyone on these remarkable dates and wish successful work,” he said.
The 7th international expo and conference Atomexpo Belarus 2015 opened in Minsk on 22 April. It will stay open through 24 April. The event has been organized upon the initiative of the Belarusian Energy Ministry with assistance of the Russian state corporation Rosatom. Atomexpo Belarus 2015 is meant to demonstrate the latest technologies used to design, build, operate, and secure nuclear power plants. The forum will also highlight ways to ensure effective deliveries of equipment for building a nuclear power plant and non-energy uses of nuclear power.
During the expo a science and practice conference will be held to discuss the development of nuclear energy industry in the Republic of Belarus. Participants of the conference will talk over the construction and equipment deliveries for the Belarusian nuclear power plant, the safety and creation of nuclear infrastructure, and the public acceptance of nuclear energy. Participants of the expo will be able to establish business contacts with representatives of the customers, namely the Russian company NIAEP – Atomstroyexport and the Belarusian enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant.
