MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – Viktor Guminsky, Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives, the head of the working group on cooperation with the Parliament of the Czech Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, met with Czech Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Ivo Sramek during a visit to the Czech Republic, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.
The meeting discussed the cooperation between the two countries in the international arena. “The Czech diplomat commended Belarus’ contribution to peace and security in the OSCE region, and noted the possibility of supporting Belarus in the Eastern Partnership Initiative,” the press service noted.
For his part, Viktor Guminsky said that Belarus is ready to deepen the dialogue and practical cooperation in the Eastern Partnership program provided that it is reformatted.
On the same day, Viktor Guminsky met with Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Vojtech Filip to review the development of cooperation between parliaments. He commended the level of interaction between the groups of friendship of the two countries' parliaments.
Viktor Guminsky said that there is the need to intensify the process of developing the full legal framework of bilateral relations, especially in investment and trade. It was noted that economic diplomacy is an important component of bilateral cooperation. Vojtech Filip expressed interest in developing cooperation in the field of education.
The parties agreed to continue dialogue on the issues of mutual interest, both bilaterally and also in international parliamentary organizations.
In addition, Viktor Guminsky met with Vice Chairperson of the Chamber of Deputies Jaroslava Jermanova to discuss the counteracting of threats and challenges to the modern architecture of security in Europe. Special attention was paid to the development of cooperation between the regions of Belarus and the Czech Republic.
