MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) - Belarus demonstrates impressive achievements in healthcare, orthopedics lecturer at the University of Oxford, Professor of Rheumatology at the University of Southampton Cyrus Cooper (the UK) said in an interview to the Belarus One TV Channel on 21 October. He is attending the WHO European Ministerial Conference on the Life-course Approach in the Context of Health 2020 in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
Cyrus Cooper took note of Belarus’ progress made in preventing noncommunicable diseases. “Belarus is doing well in the world healthcare rankings. It means that even such small states can be successful in healthcare if using proper approaches as in case with Belarus,” he noted.
“The President of Belarus noted in his speech the importance of state support for healthcare. The success of your healthcare level is in it, and we can learn a lot from your country taking into account the achievements you demonstrate in the healthcare sector,” the scientist said.
Minister of Labor, Health and Social Protection of Georgia David Sergeenko noted for his part that the experience of the Belarusian healthcare system is unique and other countries can learn a lot from Belarus. According to him, the final document of the current conference, the Minsk Declaration, will become an important instrument in the global healthcare system.
